History Hunters: Year of the Snake Edition
Did you know that the next Edmonton Public School’s PD Day is on Lunar New Year? Each Year is represented one of the twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac and January 29th will mark the beginning of the Year of the Snake and the Alberta Aviation Museum is celebrating with a special edition of our History Hunters day camp!

The Eastwood Glider Club
Explore the fascinating history of the Eastwood High School glider club, a 1930s initiative where students embraced the challenge of constructing their own Mead Glider kit, “The Grey Goose.” This pioneering project highlights how young aviators took to the skies, reflecting a remarkable blend of determination and early aviation enthusiasm. While Eastwood High School no longer exists, its innovative spirit endures through these incredible photos and the legacy of its daring glider club members.
The Eastwood Glider Club
In the 1930s, high school clubs were venturing into new technological frontiers, and while today’s students might join robotics, coding, or video game clubs, aviation captured young imaginations back then. At Eastwood High School, students and staff created a glider club and ambitiously decided to build a glider from scratch.
