Dear Members,
As winter approaches and snow begins to fall, we notice a shift in activity at the museum. While tourist numbers may decrease, the behind-the-scenes efforts continue to impress. The cooler temperatures bring a need for additional insulation for our external hangar doors, and with the new furnace coming online hopefully in December continued warmth will be had. Our Restoration team is hard at work on numerous projects, including the P39 Airacobra, ground mules, DC 6 flight simulator, as well as the Pietenpol Air Camper restoration to name a few. You will also notice that we have been rearranging our gallery displays to showcase different aircraft in fresh ways.
Recently, we celebrated our dedicated volunteers with a BBQ, recognizing their invaluable contributions. Our staff has also been engaged in annual planning sessions, laying the groundwork for an exciting 2025. Meanwhile, our Board of Directors has resumed governance meetings, focusing on our sustainability goals and the eventual taking ownership of the hangar and all that it entails.
With the overwhelming success of our recent Open Cockpit Day new plans for an even bigger and better event and additional activities are being developed for the new year. I’m pleased to report that our operational grant application for 2025 has been submitted, and our gift shop sales are performing well, alongside admissions that are on track to meet our budget.
It has been a wonderful year with loads of activities and events for many. Here’s to having an even better fun-filled year in 2025!
Once again, Thank you for your continued support and all the best in the coming new year!
Warm regards,
Jean Lauzon
Executive Director
