Looking for a unique experience this summer? Volunteer at the Alberta Aviation Museum in summer 2025 and let history take flight! You’ll learn about the work museum’s do while gaining volunteer experience (and hours!).
What you will be doing?
- Support program staff in delivering activities during summer camp and children’s tours.
- Help to answer visitor’s questions about the museum and ensure the safety of artifacts by enforcing the museum guidelines.
- Lead tours of the museum’s restoration area.
- Work in our simulator lab explaining how to operate the simulators and ensuring the safety of the simulators by enforcing simulator lab rules.
- Complete an object study about an object from the museum’s collection and help design an interpretive sign about the object that will be displayed in the museum.
Who can participate?
- Youth aged 16-17.
- Must be available to volunteer between approximately 6-10 hours per week in July and August (Should be available for the majority of the summer, but do not need to be available for the entirety of the summer).
- Should enjoy learning about history and working with the public (including younger children).

- Experience working in a museum environment (ideal for you who might interested in future jobs in museums or history).

- The opportunity to go behind-the-scenes in the museum and create something for display.
- Your own opening reception. At the end of the summer, we’ll host an opening for your object study display to invite your family and friends to learn about what you’ve worked on all summer.

- All youth volunteers must attend an orientation in late-June/ the first week of July
- Volunteering begins the week of July 7th
