Hangar 14 Update: January 1st, 2024

Dear Valued Stakeholders, Esteemed Members, and Cherished Visitors,

As we bid farewell to a year filled with memorable moments and remarkable milestones, we at the Alberta Aviation Museum extend our heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for your unwavering support, enthusiasm, and dedication to preserving the rich heritage of aviation in Alberta. Your commitment has been the cornerstone of our success, and together, we have soared to new heights.

The past year has brought its fair share of challenges and triumphs, yet through perseverance and unity, we have navigated them with resilience and optimism. Despite the uncertainties that have encompassed us, your unwavering passion for aviation history and exploration has continued to inspire us, propelling our museum’s mission forward.

As we embark on a fresh new year, we are filled with renewed hope, aspirations, and excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead. In the coming months, we are committed to continue creating captivating exhibits, engaging events, and immersive experiences that will captivate the imagination of all who walk through our doors.

In recent months the museum staff, Board, and stakeholders have been busy working with the Hatlie Group in developing and creating our Strategic Priorities 2024-2028 and Business Case Plan.  With the former almost at completion, the Case Plan needs additional information to be finalized.  Currently, we are creating a Letter of Intent to be submitted to City Administration for Hangar 14, to potentially take over the maintenance and rehabilitative work needed. In working with our legal representative, we will be able to start the conversation going forward regarding the sale of the hangar.  The museum will also be igniting a membership and donor drive to begin the journey of obtaining the needed funds to cover the cost of such an endeavor.

Your continued support and involvement remain integral to our endeavors. We invite you to join us on this exhilarating journey as we celebrate the legacy of aviation, honor the pioneers who shaped our skies, and inspire future generations to reach for the stars.

May the New Year be a canvas of endless possibilities, filled with joy, prosperity, and boundless discoveries for you and your loved ones. Together, let us embrace the spirit of exploration, innovation, and camaraderie that defines the essence of aviation.

Thank you once again for being an invaluable part of the Alberta Aviation Museum family. Your passion fuels our mission, and we look forward to sharing many more memorable moments with you in the upcoming year.

Wishing you a magnificent New Year filled with blue skies and soaring dreams!

Warm regards,

Jean Lauzon – Executive Director
