Eurocopter EC120B Colibri

In the 1980s, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) proposed acquiring a helicopter. Following local radio journalist Bob Layton’s discussion of Edmonton’s lack of a helicopter, the Spotlight on Safety campaign raised $2 million to fund the purchase and maintenance of a police helicopter. With its low noise profile and reliability, the EC120B was a good choice. In 2018, the EPS replaced the EC120 with an Airbus H125.
