Hangar 14 Update: September 1st

Dear Members,

As we transition into cooler weather, it comes as a welcome relief after an incredibly busy and successful hot summer at the museum. Our six-week-long summer camps were filled to capacity, and the high volume of guest tours made the season fly by. We’re also excited to share that our recently introduced birthday party events have quickly become a popular addition, drawing more families to the museum. Admissions continue to be strong, keeping us busy and energized as we look ahead.

This summer, we saw great things happening, including the 700 Wing’s T-33 wrapped in a livery celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the RCAF, as well as the development and the start of the island display for the three helicopters showcasing the Bell 47, Bell 206, and EC120. Which has already become a standout exhibit everyone is eager to see when complete. Furthermore, our furnace installation is progressing well and is on track for completion by the end of the month.

On the administrative side, the COE is actively working on the sale of the hangar to the AAM. In addition, we’ve been holding productive meetings with several MLAs and MPs to explore potential provincial and federal funding opportunities to help cover capital costs of the hangar rehabilitation. We are also collaborating closely with Ray Marshall from MCR Strategic Fundraising on the feasibility study for the capital campaign that will begin this fall. This will be an important step in ensuring the museum’s future growth and sustainability.

As we gear up for our upcoming Open Cockpit Day event at the end of the month, we expect even more excitement, more activities and more fun for all to enjoy!

Thank you for your ongoing support. With so many exciting developments on the horizon, we look forward to sharing more updates with you soon!

Kindest regards,

Jean Lauzon
