Our flight is prepped, and we are cleared for take-off!  The Alberta Aviation Museum will reopen its doors on Wednesday, July 1st, 2020 (Canada Day) to provide a safe, accessible, and enriching experience for patrons and families looking to explore aviation after a long period of self-isolation.

Following the recommendations of the Government of Alberta’s COVID-19 relaunch strategy, in close consultation with Alberta Health Services, the historic museum hanger will once again welcome visitors using a range of public health and physical distancing measures to ensure the public safety of our patrons, volunteers, staff, and stakeholders.

As organizations across the province navigate this “new normal,” the museum will open 4 days a week from Thursday to Sunday.  A new online, timed-entry ticketing system will be launched on June 30th to ensure social distancing requirements of 50 people in our facility.  Patrons will be able to purchase tickets to one of three 2-hour time slots for the date of their visit.

Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays10:00 am – 5:00 pmThree 2-Hour Timeslots

“For those who work during the day, this will be the first time we will be incorporating a regular late-night option for patrons on Thursdays,” said Jean Lauzon, Executive Director for the museum.  “We recognize the importance of providing this flexibility as Albertans find themselves returning to work.”

To respect the various levels of comfort amongst patrons during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the museum will be taking a two-tiered approach to its community programming. First is our commitment to reopen our facility by taking the necessary steps to meet exceed our provided health and safety directives.  Our second approach is to continue developing a diverse set of online programs and experiences for those who would prefer to enjoy from the safety of their homes. New programming is scheduled to be released in the coming months.

The Alberta Aviation Museum continues to be an active community partner and steward of Edmonton’s aviation history, sharing stories about the role of aviation in building our community. Much like the bush pilot pioneers of Alberta, the museum continues to work to connect people in ways that build a better tomorrow.

Advanced, time-entry tickets will be available for sale online starting June 30th. Prices are $15/adults, $12/students/seniors, $10.50/youth 13-17, $9.50/children 6-12. Children 6 and under are free.
