I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all their efforts throughout the year.
Over this past year there have been many changes to the museum not only internally but externally. We’ve come through a year that was filled with both challenges and victories. We have gained new members and, as life happens, we’ve lost a few. It has been reassuring to know that we have all stood together to weather this time. These changes have been noticed by many and have been well received.
I am pleased to announce that the City has approved the additional funding request of $237,000, which will solve our short-term funding issues and allow us to work along with the Edmonton Heritage Council in creating a sustainability plan and moving the museum forward.
The museum is also excited to announce we have signed a new 25-year lease agreement with the City of Edmonton. We appreciate the commitment the City is making to our long-term use of Hangar 14.
I would like to thank the Mayor, Ward 2 Councilor Bev Esslinger and all City Councilors for approving the full funding request and showing the support that the museum has worked hard to garner.
To our volunteers, please allow me to extend my genuine appreciation and gratitude to each and every one of you for your valuable contributions to the museum this past year.
As this year comes to a close I want to thank our staff for all the incredible work, dedication and commitment you have exhibited throughout the year. Without a doubt, our facility and staff rival those at the most prestigious institutions in the country. I am truly grateful for the staggering effort they have made in making this organization a more professional one and bringing it to this standing in the museum community.
To those who have generously donated to the museum – a huge thank you. We could not have progressed this far this fast without you!
As we enter another year my wish for you is all the happiness and prosperity of the world along with all the hopes and promises that a New Year can bring. I hope it also brings us a lot more opportunities to work together.
