Hangar Update July 2025
Our summer has only just begun and has been truly uplifting! Watching campers explore the science, history, and mechanics of flight right here in Hangar 14 has been an absolute joy. Museum tours continue to attract enthusiastic guests, eager to learn and engage with Edmonton’s aviation heritage. Our birthday party program has also been a tremendous hit—parents love celebrating special moments in Hangar 14 amid iconic aircraft.

Planes, Tractors, Boats, and Automobiles
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a … fire truck? In our central gallery, we have a little red fire truck that interests and confuses visitors – after all, what do fire trucks have to do with aviation? This particular truck is referred to as a crash tender, which is a fire truck designed specifically to fight fires at airports and military air bases.

Dogs in the Alberta Aviation Museum Collection A History in Photos
As International Dog Day approaches, the Alberta Aviation Museum shines a spotlight on an often-overlooked aspect of aviation heritage: the loyal dogs who stood beside our aviators. Dogs in the Alberta Aviation Museum Collection explores archival photographs that reveal how dogs played meaningful roles in aviation history—as morale boosters, mascots, and sometimes even flying companions.
Do You Want To Become a Volunteer?
The Alberta Aviation Museum has amassed one of the largest collections of historic aircraft for any aviation museum of its size, but it would never have succeeded without the legions of volunteers who have devoted tens of thousands of hours over the past 30 years.
