Edmonton’s historic hangar will see the return of its biggest event of the year!  The Alberta Aviation Museum is championing the arrival of its 6th Annual Open Cockpit Day on September 25th, 2021!  Families from all walks of life can once again find themselves in the seat of an authentic piece of aviation history.

From 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, the crew doors of several historical aircraft will open to the public – granting rare access to feel what it is like to helm an aircraft, including a Lockheed Starfighter.  Get the perfect Instagram shot on a “private jet,” or get ready for take-off with one of our specialized flight simulators.  Adventure will be around every corner.

Engage with the past, present, and future of Blatchford Field with special guest presentations throughout the day, including our resident bee experts from our historical YEG Honeycomb partnership.  Take advantage of photo booth opportunities and share with your family and friends.  Family programming, new displays, and food trucks will all be part of the celebration!

Brand new to the event will be the visiting Eyes on the Skies exhibit – developed by the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and NAV CANADA.  Discover the history and evolution of air traffic management.

As a special fundraiser, the museum will be hosting a VIP evening on September 24th, 2021 for those wanting a first-class ticket experience and early access. More information will be made available on our social media channels soon!

Advanced tickets for this event will go on sale August 15th. For more information and the latest developments, be sure follow the museum on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter @ABAvMuseum or visit www.albertaaviationmuseum.com.
